The Way is the Purpos e

The work of the author Vit Madr, which is strictly based on mobile and computer applications and programs. It is a conceptual art, the output of which is a collage of applications. Individual works are often created for more than one year. They are unmistakable and their form and content depend on the intended concept, not on how the author would like.

Winter Solstice 2016 - 01
The original size is 100 x 106 cm.
I compiled the collage in 2017.
This is a collage of photographic performances, where I photographed the view of the sky from the balcony every minute.
In total, I took pictures 24 hours, twelve hours before the winter solstice and twelve hours after the winter solstice. Every minute.
The Winter Solstice was 21.12.2016 - at 11:46 Central European Time.
The first photo, which is in the collage at the top left, was taken early in the morning on December 21, 2016 719 minutes (approximately 12 hours) before the solstice.
The moment of the winter Solstice is in the middle on the right, it corresponds to the time of the Winter Solstice in the city of Brno Central European Time.
The last photo is at the bottom right and was taken early in the morning on December 22, 2016 720 minutes (12 hours) after the solstice.
The collage shows how the light changed during the day. It all started at night, the moment of the solstice is around noon, when there is more light. The end is at night again.

Winter Solstice 2016 - 02
The original size is 100 x 105 cm.
I compiled the collage in 2017.
Every minute I photographed the view of the sky from the balcony, so that the middle photograph of this twenty-four-hour photographic sequence was the moment of the winter solstice (the city of Brno, Central European Time).
In total, I took pictures 24 hours, twelve hours before the winter solstice and twelve hours after the winter solstice. Every minute.

The Winter Solstice was 21.12.2016 - at 11:46 Central European Time.
The resulting collage is from the histograms of each individual photo.
Each photo has its own unmistakable histogram.
A histogram is a graph that shows the occurrence and distribution of lights and shadows in a given photograph. This is because there are shadows on the left (from the black areas) and light areas on the right (there are completely white areas on the far right).
The first photo, whose histogram is in the collage at the top left, was taken early in the morning on December 21, 2016 719 minutes (approximately 12 hours) before the solstice.

The moment of the solstice is around noon, when there is more light. This histogram is filled mainly in the area of​​ lights, so it is on the right.
The end is again at night, when there is little light on the stage and the histogram is filled to the left.
